    BASIC LIFE SUPPORT FOR ADULTS

This part teaches staff how to make an initial assessment of someone in a medical situation. This is a systematic process of approaching a casualty, identifying any hazards, and dealing with an immediate and life-threatening emergency. In this section, we will look at DR ABC – the acronym used in the primary survey, obstructed airways, treating choking adults, and CPR.

CLICK ON A SECTION BELOW TO LEARN MORE.

    Obstructed Airways- infants

An infant is a child aged 1 or younger. If a child’s airway becomes blocked, due to their size, they’re particularly vulnerable as they can’t communicate the fact that they’re choking, so your staff will learn how to spot the warning signs. They will also learn the steps that they will need to take if an infant is choking and how to perform CPR on an infant.

    Treating a choking child

The second part will teach staff how to treat a choking child. Depending on the size of the child and age- the different techniques are often different, therefore the staff member will need to assess the individual and judge which method will be the most appropriate for that particular situation. They will learn how to treat a child who you believe is choking as well as performing CPR on a child (aged between 1 and the onset of puberty).

    Obstructed airway adults

As well as learning about choking in infants, you will also learn how to help an adult choking and how to assess and treat the person in need.

    CPR on a dummy

Your staff will learn how to perform basic life support and CPR on a dummy. They will learn the very best procedure in a clear manner from our professional staff at Knights Absorb.

About the Basic Life Support Training Course

The course provides the best material to teach your staff how to assess and perform basic life support. They will learn how to make an initial assessment; they will learn airway maintenance and CPR. They will also learn the acronym DRSABCD or the ‘DR’s ABCD’.

D – Danger – check it is safe to approach the casualty

R – Response – is the casualty alert and talking?

    S – Shout for help

A – Airways – open their airway if unresponsive

B – Breathing – look to see if they are breathing normally

C – CPR/circulation – if not breathing, commence CPR, if breathing check for bleeding & put in the recovery position

D – If a person requires CPR a defibrillator should be ideally used alongside it if possible

    BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING COURSE

DO I NEED TO TRAIN STAFF IN BASIC LIFE SUPPORT?

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. These regulations apply to all workplaces including those with less than five employees and to the self-employed. It’s the employer’s responsibility to determine how many people need training and to what level.

For Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulated providers, ensuring the appropriate first aid training for all staff helps comply with the Fundamental Standards.

You’ll need to assess the appropriate level of first aid expertise required and ensure people are appropriately trained. Workplaces, where there are more significant health and safety risks, are more likely to need trained first aiders.

HOW MANY CAN ATTEND STAFF TRAINING?

We will run this course for a maximum of 12 delegates – however, for larger groups we can either provide multiple trainers on the same day or run multiple days to get everyone trained.

    VIRTUAL TRAINING COURSES

We also offer basic life support training online.

    UNITED RESPONSE

Knights are now our preferred provider. The quality of training that Knights provides is exceptional. When it comes to Customer Service, Knights excel, in the many years of partnering with multiple companies, Knights are head and shoulders above the rest. Never phased by challenges that clients provide, Knights naturally deal with the issues, assess the need and make the correct decision for the customer. This is not to say they bend over or wilt when challenged, quite the opposite, they seem to scope issues and resolve them efficiently, a customer service ethic that is quite rare. Keep up the good work guys, it is noticed and appreciated.
